Ascot Residents have been complaining about the volume of trucks passing through the High Street recently. Unfortunately trucks from the Bracknell area used to head west towards the M4 before returning east to deliver to the West London industrial estates. With the increasing costs of diesel fuel recently, they have been heading east out of Bracknell towards the M25, via Ascot and Egham.
You may ask – “Why not join the M4 via Windsor?” Unfortunately many Ascot residents may not be aware of the Windsor truck cordon preventing lorries using this direct route. The folk in Windsor do not like the idea of lorries passing their town.
The next time you see a heavy vehicle trying to enter the cutting round the tiny roundabout at Sunninghill, don’t blame the truck driver, remember the NIMBYs in Windsor responsible for these shenanigans.
